BART speedrunning gained a notable boost in popularity in 2024, following several high-profile runs and the agency officially recognizing the community. This has given the BART speedrun a cultural significance that few other systems have ever seen, including a 2026 appearance in the Wall Street Journal. September of the same year saw over 130 runners assemble in what is the largest known group to simultaneously perform a transit speedrun.
