Our Mission
For a long time, the transit speedrunning community has lacked a centralized resource. Information on existing world records is scarce, and the convoluted process of applying to Guinness World Records presents a major barrier to entry. With this in mind, we hope to provide a platform which lists everything we know about transit speedruns in one place. We also provide a basic set of competitive standards so that you can go out and speedrun a transit system anywhere in the world.
Wait, what's a transit speedrun?
The short answer is visiting every station on a public transit system as fast as possible. The long answer is our rules.
This activity has existed in some form since the first attempts of the Tube Challenge in the 1960s. But with how ubiquitous gaming speedruns have become in internet culture, the term has often been adapted for this particular genre of challenge.
Historically, Guinness have been the main source for records like this, but the level of proof required from them can be restrictive. Some transit fans have begun to compile online leaderboards, and since 2024 BART have tracked runs on their own website. By having a centralized website, our hope is that anyone in any city can feel inspired to become a record holder and have their time displayed proudly on TransitRuns.
